A little about me
My given name is Olatokunbo, but I prefer non-Nigerians to call me Ola. I was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised everywhere else.
As an American-born Nigerian, I come from a culture where it’s a requirement to be an architect, engineer, doctor, or lawyer. Therefore, striving for excellence is a mindset that I understand very well.
I’m a wife to a proud veteran of the United States Army and mama of 3. I’m one of the less than 0.3% of Black women architects in the United States and worked in the design & construction industry as an architect for 15+ years. In May of 2013, I left architecture behind to focus solely on becoming my own boss - IJORERE, Inc. More recently, I wrote my first memoir called Get Your Foot Off My Neck.
